Details...
Some of the little things that make me grin… Every time I look at this panel, Quintus’ posture and facial expression and “Berry” hanging out the window and gesturing with his jacked arm, and the contrast between the two of them, makes me chuckle.
It’s just a little pause, a beat of bemusement, before we go on with the next panel where Q goes back to his default “cranky” demeanor.
That’s it! Just a little behind-the-scenes and some of the “mundane” things that make me laugh.
As you were!

WHAT'S IN THE BAG?
With apologies to David Fincher and the most excellent SE7EN. 😉
You can find out what I'm up to over on my substack, "Talkin' SMacK!" currently featuring my webcomic NO SIGNAL. See you there!
BLOWING OFF THE DUST.... AGAIN!
Wow! Is this thing on? Is there anybody out there? It’s been a long time (since I rock n’ rolled). We’ve got some new things to talk about! Well, maybe “old” things that are new again!
Mostly, I’ll be using this space to alert folks to what’s happening over on "Talkin' SMacK!" on Substack.
Cheers!

Trapped in the Northwoods. Low on cigarettes. Seeking deliverance.

AW, CRAP!
Yesterday was "Hellboy Day". March 1994... Hard to believe it's been 20 years ago I picked up my first copy of SEED OF DESTRUCTION!
Also hard to believe it's been a year since I posted to this blog. Have to remedy that. You can see what I've been up to over at http://www.godscountrycomic.com

True Grit
A few of the pages in the Venom-Deadpool WHAT IF? story I drew where inked on blueline, for whatever reason, so I had the original penciled pages still lying around. I had played around one day and started inking one of them for shits and giggles and then set it aside.
Fast Forward a couple years and a collector contacted me, asking if this particular page was available. I explained to him the situation and that if he was still interested, I would finish inking it. He was, so it provided a fun motivation to jump back on it.
I found a scan of the published page out there on the interwebs. I've posted my B&W inked page above for comparison with what appeared in the comic, for those of you interested in such things.
The colors overwhelm some of the inker's lines (not necessarily the colorist, but probably rather whoever scanned this page), but there should still be enough to illustrate how I usually have a little "grittier" approach to inking my own work vs. how someone else might approach it.
Unfortunately, I don't know who actually inked the page for the published book.

ZEBRA MATS
Another example of one our t-shirt gigs. This one for mixed martial arts outfitters, Zebra Mats. I designed and produced art for a new version of their mascot. (Their original mascot was actually based on a sketch I did over a decade ago.) Later, the client returned to have Monster a la Mode design and produce some shirts. Said shirts are available for sale from Zebra here, by the way.
